Last night two of my roommates, Elise and Rebecca, and I cooked dinner in our apartment. I grilled on the stove diced chicken with red and yellow peppers, while Rebecca made a salad. Our salad was supposed to have spinach in it (and we thought we bought spinach at the supermarket) but it definitely was NOT spinach. We smelled it before we put it in the salad, thank goodness, and it is some sort of spice. We still don’t really know what it is, but Elise put it in a vase, so it is currently serving as a centerpiece.
After dinner we sat around and talked, and a few others from GLS joined us. We had heard rumors that the entrance to our rooftop was open/unlocked so we decided to check it out. Turns out, the entire bottom of the door is gone so we all climbed onto the roof and up the ladder to check out the night skyline. It is absolutely beautiful. We can even see the Turkish side from where we are and there is a large Turkish flag that lights up at night (which I guess is like an f*you to the Greeks), but it was still pretty.
This morning we were all summoned to the GLS office at 9am to hand over our passports and get our picture taken for our student IDs. We are supposed to meet at the university at 10:30am today. Since it’s orientation all day, we will hopefully be very busy. They are also serving us traditional Greek meals for lunch and dinner, so let’s all pray that I can actually eat the food.
