And All That Jazz
Last night nine of us went into Aglantzia Old Square for a jazz festival. There were two bands playing that night (and two that played the night before). At 21:00 (or 9pm) the Cyprus Big Band played, and they were quite good. My friend Rebecca and I wanted to just jump up and dance. We were snapping along on our floor cushions almost in the front row. Cyprus Big Band is the first jazz orchestra in Cyprus. They have been building off of American and European jazz, as well as latin music to cover all stages and styles of music. The second group of performers was Human Touch, which began at 22:00. Human Touch is an instrumental trio based out of Athens, Greece, with a wide display of instruments from flute to percussion to vocals and facial effects. Although we did not stay for the entire performance because it was starting to get late, the jazz festival was a lot of fun. About a three minute walk from the festival was a cave bar - literally. The bar was built into a cave! When we walked in, it definitely had the atmosphere of a cave, but not in a bad way. The air was a bit more musty and the lighting was much dimmer. It was beautiful though. All in all, good night out on the town.
